About Us
The Hoffman School of Dance was established in 1930 by Geraldine C. Hoffman. She opened her first dance studio at 639 Woodlawn in her fathers garage. Geraldine's daughter's, Sandra McPhee and Linda Betts took over the studio after their mothers retirement and continued on with their mother's motto "The art of dance cannot be mastered without discipline".
The Hoffman School of Dance has been purchased by Janeen Cole. Janeen has studied at the school since she was 3 years old and has been instructing and directing at area dance schools over the past 21 years. Many of the time-honored traditions, first taught by Geraldine, are still being taught at the school today.
Entering it’s 85th season, the Hoffman School of Dance is excited to begin another year of personal growth and exploration through dance. The studio is located at 577 Fillmore Avenue in East Aurora, NY and proudly serves all areas of WNY, including Orchard Park, Elma, Holland and Depew. They offer special Kiddie Combination classes for children 3-5 years old where they learn ballet, jazz, tap & creative movement. This class combines the development of rhythm, movement and coordination all presented in a fun-based class setting. Other classes offered for the season are Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Acrobatics, Adult Classes, Theatre Dance & Boys Only Hip Hop.
There is a class to meet every need, from the beginner and recreational dancer to the advanced competitive dancer.
The Hoffman School of Dance competitive team had a very successful year last year. They had numerous Titanium, Platinum, and Gold awards, Overall High-Scores and was awarded the “Class Act” award meaning we present our children with age appropriate costumes and music. “I was most proud of that award”, says Cole. “Nowadays these children are bombarded with negative impressions, it is our duty as teachers to keep them safe and show them how to act like young ladies and gentlemen.”
We are looking forward to another very exciting dance year!!!
